How Much Does an Explainer Video Cost?
Explainer video cost is a quote for a complete film — script, design, animation, voiceover, music, revisions, and files you own — not a single number on a landing page. Length, original picture, UI accuracy, and how many people have to approve the claim all move the price. Compare what is included, not the headline. The smallest start is one done-for-you video, not a monthly retainer.

What you are actually paying for
A serious quote covers script, design, animation, voiceover, music, revisions, and delivery formats. If a number only covers “animation,” the rest shows up later as extras.
An explainer video is not a motion-graphics clip you drop on a homepage. It is a directed film: someone has to write the argument, lock the pictures to that argument, animate it, record a voice, mix it, and revise it until the claim is true.
A complete quote should include:
| Included | If it is missing |
|---|---|
| Script | You are buying animation of a weak message |
| Direction and design | Style and UI accuracy get billed later |
| Animation | You paid for a slide deck with wipes |
| Voiceover and music | A silent cut is not a finished film |
| Revisions | “Unlimited” that is one round, then change orders |
| Delivery and ownership | You do not own the files you paid for |
Our quoted price includes those pieces. If a cheaper number only lists animation hours, it is not cheaper. It is unfinished.
What changes the price
Length, original character work, UI accuracy, voice talent, and how many stakeholders have to sign off. Style is a lever; unclear scope is the expensive one.
The levers that actually move a quote — none of these is a public rate card:
| Lever | Why it moves the quote |
|---|---|
| Length | Less script and motion at 30s than 90s. Past 90s you often pay for two messages. |
| Original picture | Existing brand and UI is faster than inventing a cast from nothing. |
| UI accuracy | A SaaS film that must look like the product takes more care than a metaphor. |
| Voice | A stock read is cheaper than a cast session. Buyers hear it. |
| Approvals | Five stakeholders who have not agreed the one sentence cost more than animation. |
Style (2D, whiteboard, kinetic type) changes the look more than the bill, unless you are asking for a 3D world that has to be built before anyone can revise a line. Wyzowl’s 2026 survey still finds “too expensive” as a top reason marketers skip video — which is why an incomplete headline number is worse than a complete quote.
How to read a quote
Ask what is included, how many revision rounds are real, who owns the files, and what happens if the first cut misses. Compare those, not a single headline number.
When two studios send two numbers, compare the contract, not the font on the PDF:
- Is script in, or billed after the “creative kickoff”?
- Are revisions unlimited in name only — one round, then change orders?
- Do you own the film and the working files on delivery?
- What happens if the first cut misses? We refund the first video if you are still not happy after revisions.
- How fast is “done”? Most of our films deliver within 3 days once the brief is clear — not six weeks of waiting on a deck.
A useful quote names the page the film will live on and the one action it asks for. A quote that only names a style is a guess.
Retainer vs one video
The smallest useful start is one done-for-you film. Ongoing volume can come later. Do not buy a monthly plan to find out if the studio can land your message.
A retainer makes sense after you have seen a film land — when you already know the studio can write, direct, and finish your product. It does not make sense as the first purchase. You would be paying for capacity before you have proof.
We do not put monthly plan prices on this site. Those are scoped on a call, after a first video, around the volume you actually need. If you only need one explainer, buy one explainer.
Teams that already know they need a stack — homepage, feature launch, onboarding — can still start with the film that sits on the page with traffic. Volume is a second conversation.
How to get a quote
Bring the audience, the page the film will live on, and the one action. We will tell you which film is worth making and what a complete quote includes — not a number pulled off a landing-page menu.
Book a free 15-minute Video Strategy Audit. You leave with a shortlist. If it is a fit, we quote the actual film: script through delivery, you own it, revisions included.
If you are comparing us to another studio, send them the same brief. The useful difference is almost never the headline number. It is whether the quote is a complete film or a list of extras waiting to happen.
Frequently asked questions
Why don’t studios list a single price?
- Length, style, and script complexity move the work. An honest studio quotes the film you need instead of anchoring a landing page to a number that only fits the cheapest sample.
What should be included in the quoted price?
- Script, design, animation, voiceover, music, revisions, and the formats you will actually use. If those are line items, the headline price is incomplete.
Do I have to buy a monthly retainer?
- No. The smallest start is one done-for-you video. Ongoing volume is a later conversation, after you have seen a film land. Monthly rates are not listed on this site.
How fast can an explainer video be produced?
- Most of ours deliver within 3 days once the brief is clear. The brief is the audience, the page, and the one action — not a six-week deck cycle.
